August is Immunization Awareness Month

Ask your health care provider if you are up to date on your immunizations.

National Immunization Awareness Month is the perfect time to remind family, friends, and coworkers to find out if they are up to date on their immunizations.

Remember that immunizations aren't just for babies and young children. We all need shots to help protect us from serious diseases and illness.

Young Children:
Children under age 6 get a series of shots to protect against measles, polio, chicken pox, and hepatitis.

Pre-Teens: All 11 and 12 year-olds need shots to help protect against tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, and meningitis. All teens should get the flu shot.

Adults: All adults need shots to protect against tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough. Adults should get a flu shot every year. Adults can also be immunized against pneumonia.
