The HCHC & Diversity

There is so much diversity in the Harrisonburg community.  In 2011 the Uniform Data System reported serving a total of 5,889 patients; of those patients 2,353 patients were best served in a language other than English.  In order to meet the needs of patients,the HCHC has all materials in both English and Spanish as well as two full time Spanish interpreters. The HCHC also has bi lingual staff in the front office and staff diversity that matches the patient population.

Harrisonburg-Rockingham Dental Clinic

The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Dental Clinic provides quality dental care to qualified adults and children in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham community.

Currently, the clinic is located on the 3rd floor of the free clinic in downtown Harrisonburg. They see adults and children with Medicaid & provide a discount of 50%-75% for uninsured patients.

The clinic will be joining the HCHC in our new facility opening in August 2012. They will be located on the 2nd floor of out new facility, and will be accepting ALL insurances, as well as provide a discount to uninsured patients.

We have a new provider!

Christopher Benjamin MSN, FNP-C

Christopher Benjamin will be joining the HCHC as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Virginia, and has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1997.

He has been active in both the University of Virginia and James Madison University communities as a guest lecturer for nurse practitioner students.

He has lived with his wife in the Shenandoah Valley for the past 12 years, and on his free time enjoys traveling, photography, fitness, movies, and movies.

Christopher Benjamin will make a great addition to our growing HCHC family! We now have 3 doctors, 3 nurse practitioners, and 2 physician assistants.

BUILDING UPDATE!

We are still on track for our anticipated August 2012 opening. Recently the shingles have been put on, & the windows are in! Don't forget our new address, 1355 Port Republic Road.

Transportation Issues

In order for patients to be able to take advantage of the services at the HCHC, they need to be able to get there! Location is crucial in order to be easily accessible to community members.  According to a survey from last September of the HCHC blog, there were four main ways patients used transportation.

Personal vehicle

Friend or relative

Public bus transportation

Taxi
